When we offered this model for comparison of Honda CRF110F from Yamaha TT-R110E in 2017, we really did not expect to find a big difference between these two established youth off-road motorcycles.

At first glance, there are quite a few similarities, including a comparison of $ 2,249 MSRP. Nevertheless, when we installed our team of tracks for young racers and their parents, we found that the CRF110F and TT-R110E are not clones, and each motorcycle has its own audience.

The engines and chassis make the CRF110F and TT-R110E very similar to the surface. Both have highly reliable two-stroke two-stroke SOHC engines with air-cooled electric start (which are loved by children and adults).
Along with 12-inch rear wheels and 14-inch front, both bicycles have an uncontrolled suspension, while the shock absorbers do not have a clutch for less maintenance. Two bikes weigh approximately the same, and the difference in seat height between them is the width of the hair. Basically the same bike, is not it? Wrong!

Before we tell you which bicycle suits your child, we will give you the most important buying advice: do not expect your child to grow on a bicycle - get a bicycle that fits or is too small. As soon as the rider takes possession of the bike, move upwards. Danger for a bicycle that is too big or powerful for a boy. Do not do this.

In addition, the budget for a helmet, glasses, gloves and boots - they are not subject to discussion. Long sleeves and long pants are a must, period. After that, look at the knee and elbow armor, especially if you are riding in a rocky terrain. Nothing rotates like a trauma.

Well, back to 2017 Honda CRF110F and TT-R110E, and how they differ. Keep in mind that we tested them separately, and we did not distinguish them separately from them - we really had to compare them side by side.

Our two main drivers were Murphy Aaron and Skylar Carrillo. Both children have parents-moms and dads who participate in races. Nevertheless, Skylar is a newer racer and a little shy, while Murphy is more experienced and aggressive. Both teenagers are approaching two motorcycles and approach to age.

After we let the kids ride their bikes to their hearts, everyone had a certain favorite. As soon as we started to understand the specifications, it seemed that the small differences were more significant than we expected.

My favorite Murphy is the Yamaha TT-R110E. As it turned out, Yamaha quite strongly launched the TT-R. In addition to the engine with a slightly shorter stroke, the engine also has a higher compression and is powered by a 16 mm carburetor (compared to a tiny 13 mm block on the CRF110F).

Additional horsepower immediately turned to Murphy, as he already performs advanced riding techniques such as powerslides and jumps. The TT-R110E satisfied Murphy's need for speed, and he grabbed it whenever he could.
Yamaha made sure that Murphy was safe on the TT-R110E, giving him a longer wheelbase, relaxed geometry (1.8 degrees more than the CRF110F) and a longer suspension movement. This gave Murphy the stability he needed to use the power of the TT-R110E. Murphy rode the wheels with the TT-R110E and returned with a big smile on his face.

Skylar is not yet ready for wheels or air, and he is looking for a soothing motorcycle that makes her feel safe. When the rider feels confident and confident, the improvement is not far behind. Although both riders rated the Honda CRF110F as lighter, in fact it is a nominal four pound heavier than the Yamaha TT-R110E.
However, how the bike feels is very important, and both riders also believe that the CRF110F is easier to handle. This sense of agility, as well as less aggressive force made Honda an easy choice for Skylar.

Both boys appreciated the drum brakes and the shift of automatic clutch to both bikes. Of course, children and parents appreciate the electric launch. However, kickstarting either biking is easy, especially when warm. Both engines need a throttle in the cold.

No driver expressed a preference for tires. Yamaha uses Cheng Shin, while Honda uses Cheng Shin tires under the CST brand. IRC makes updating the iX-Kids bus if a serious trip is planned along the trail.

Those who ride the rocks will want to note that the Yamaha has an additional half-inch of the ground clearance, as well as excellent protection from the sedimentation tank.

For children this is a simple choice. A confident racer, advancing through the ranks of 50, will find many opportunities in the aggressive Yamaha TT-R110E. If you want to make the right choice for a new rider, the Honda CRF110F provides the confidence that it lacks self-confidence.

Having said this, less experienced riders will not be overloaded with the Yamaha TT-R110E, and children with tough horseback riding will successfully hit the Honda CRF110F. Nevertheless, you better buy the right bike for the correct style of the rider.
Adults, of course, should be brought into the equation, because they must support both motorcycles. Fortunately, the 2017 Honda CRF110F and the Yamaha TT-R110E are pretty much connected in this department. Both have engines and chassis, which are highly appreciated for durability.

Both bikes require a little more work to get to the air filter than they should - each of them needs to remove the casing along with a lot of bolts. Fortunately, oil changes are required less frequently and are easily performed, as is the adjustment of the chain.

Children loved the look of both motorcycles, since they have stylistic replicas with motocrosses - no preference is given if the rider's favorite color is red or blue.
Honda and Yamaha made this shootout easy for parents, children and journalists. The line is clearly drawn between these two excellent youth off-road motorcycles.

As the first bike, the Honda CRF110F 2017 is the way. If you have a good kid on hand with experience, take the 2017 Yamaha TT-R110E. All you need to do is to make sure that your ego is checked, and remember what kind of racer your child is - a young man will definitely benefit from the fact that you make the right choice.
